chILD Event
This year’s conference will be held June 21-23, 2013 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Hotel accommodations:
Sheraton Station Square Pittsburgh’s only Riverfront Hotel, the Sheraton Station Square is home to this year’s conference. The Foundation has reserved 50 rooms at $169 per night. Our room block expired on May 17th. However, the foundation has secured a LIMITED number of rooms that will be available on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to reserve one of these remaining rooms, please email agettys@ou.edu
Cost registration will be $150.00 per attending adult which can be prepaid by Pay Pal, paid on site at the conference, or covered by a fundraising campaign. chILD children and siblings can attend the conference at no cost. However, REGISTRATION CLOSES ON JUNE 15th! So sign up soon!
Events begin Thursday night with a complimentary reception from 5 to 7pm at the Sheraton.
We are working on finalizing the schedule, but we have many exciting topics lined up.
Friday will be loaded with an exciting line-up of presentations from experts in their respective fields. Tentative topics include:
- Feeding and oral aversions given by speech and language specialists
- Diagnosing chILD: iPFTs and recommended care
- Oxygen saturations and cognitive development
- The implications of Healthcare Reform on equipment and supplies
- Child Life specialists on how to care for the emotional needs of chILD patients and their siblings.
Friday Night dinner on Pittsburgh’s finest river fleet! We have booked a private cruise with the Gateway Clipper Fleet for all of the participants of the chILD and physician conferences. The entrance is right across from the Sheraton Station Square making this family outing fun and convenient. As a part of the chILD Conference, you and your family can and dine on one of the Clipper’s finest riverboats.
Saturday talks will include special talks from the chILD Research Network Physicians including:
- ATS consensus on chILD,
- Research updates from recent grant recipients
- Finding the genes responsible for chILD
- And other updates on chILD….
On Saturday Night, we will have another opportunity for families and the physicians to socialize with dinner at the hotel.
Sunday morning will be a special Roundtable Breakfast with the physicians.This will be an opportunity for you to ask the experts any questions that have come up during the conference.

Children’s Rooms for chILD patients and their siblings There will be fun chILD activities scheduled for the duration of the conference. The chILD Room will be a supervised room where chILD patients and their siblings can come join in medical play, interact with the Museum of Natural History on the Move, T-shirt silk screening, and more!
